FAQ

What is Tantra?

In Sanskrit, the language of ancient India, the word Tantra means “to weave”.

The weaving is the divine union of our inner feminine and masculine self which results in an experience of deep and a connection to the divine.

The Tantras came from texts that arose in different Hindu lineages throughout the fifth century.  It is a spiritual philosophy that is inclusive. And by inclusive, I mean that it does not exclude more taboo topics like sexuality from its teachings.

Tantra speaks of all of reality being an expression of the divine. It is only through loving and accepting all of the parts of who we are (love and dark, sacred and profane) that we can truly love ourselves. Because what we suppress, remains dormant and expresses itself as our “shadow”. Tantra is about reclaiming and loving the parts of the self that are hidden.

It is through Tantric practises (from white tantric practises such as meditation and mantra to red Tantric practises of sacred sexuality) that we can start to open ourselves up to experiencing ourselves as love.

What is Kundalini?

Kundalini means life force energy.

There are two primary sources of Kundalini energy- Kundalini Shakti and Kundalini Shiva.

Kundalini Shakti is the primordial source of energy, that sits like a serpent at the base of the spine. For many, it remains dormant. When awakened, however, it moves through the body in a wave like nature, awakening and shifting the stagnant emotional, energetic and physical blocks that are keepings us from feeling the ecstasy and aliveness of having a free flowing energy body.

Kundalini shiva is the source of light energy that comes from our higher consciousness centres- our third eye and crown. We can access and awaken this form of kundalini through white tantra practises, such as meditation, mantra and yoga.

In my sessions, I work with balancing both energies. We need to be connected to and balanced in our feminine and masculine energies- our yin and yang; the sun and the moon. Meditation and mindfulness helps to connect us back with shiva kundalini, whereas embodiment practises like dance and red tantra practises involving the sexual energy, connect us back with our more feminine, expressive and emotional energies.

Inner union comes from having a connection to both our masculine and feminine self and forming a union, or bonding between the two. This way, we can meet our own need and don’t feel like we need to outsource them onto others.

What is the SPIRAL?

The spiral is a 7 stage transformation process that works through the chakras (energy centres) to clear unconscious emotional baggage.

It is a new age spiritual technology that combines the best of kinesiology, neurolinguistic programming, spiral dynamics, Tantra, traditional Chinese medicine with a little bit of magic thrown in for good measure.

As we work our way through 22 key emotions such has shame, guilt, fear and anxiety, we are clearing the emotional patterns of our conditioning, coming to a place of neutral. As we clear these patterns, we become more aware of who we are without the unconscious conditioning. Without these unconscious patterns holding us back, we unlock our potential and transform our lives with higher levels of awareness or consciousness.

The spiral process enables us to rewrite our stories by clearing the emotions that pin them in place. The beliefs, the patterns and behaviors that we are aware of are easy to change. It’s the ones that are sitting in our unconscious that we must look at. That is the real shadow work. When we bring these unconscious patterns into the light, we can truly transform ourselves.

I run 7 week SPIRAL programs for women and men who are looking to liberate themselves from the shame and fear that is stopping them from stepping into and owning their power: wild, ecstatic, alive, free and in deep communion with their own soul.

How does it work?

First off, we get an idea of where you’re currently at in your life. This includes what challenges you’re facing and what you’d like to overcome. Then we set some clear intentions for what you’d like to get out of your spiral journey. Aiming to work through a level per week, we do the clearing work through skype. Then, you integrate each level by taking specific agreed on actions during the week.

The 7 levels (correlating with the 7 chakras) that we work with over the 7 weeks include the following.

  • Root chakra- deserving/worth/survival
  • Sacral chakra- creativing/connection/sexuality
  • Solar plexus chakra- power/setting boundaries
  • Heart chakra- openness/love/organisation
  • Throat chakra- expression/leadership/voice
  • Third eye chakra- vision/perception/trust
  • Crown chakra- purpose/spirituality/higher states

You’ll also keep a journal throughout the journey to keep track of all of the changes that you are experiencing.

Bear in mind, this is a deeply powerful and transformational process. You are clearing a lifetime of conditioning (sometimes even older). It requires your full commitment to the process. That means really feeling what’s there and working through it as well as being honest with yourself and taking action in the real world to see and experience the change.

Throughout the journey, you will have access to me as support. You can ask for help if you need it, whenever you need. You can also learn how to muscle test and start clearing things yourself as they arise. This will help you understand the work better and move through things faster on your own.

As a part of the process, I’ll add you to the online spiral community facebook group. It’s a safe space for you to ask questions, share your experiences and get to know other people who are spiralling or who have been through the spiral.

YONI EGGS

What are Yoni Eggs?

A yoni egg is an egg-shaped stone made out of 100% natural crystal. It is inserted into the vagina as a way of toning the pelvic floor, balancing sexual energy, increasing internal sensation and improving orgasmic potential.

Why use a yoni egg?

A yoni egg practise is usually one of the first practises I will prescribe to a woman who is looking to develop a stronger, healthier connection to her sexual prowess and power.

Some of the benefits of having a regular yoni egg practise include:

  • Elevated and regulated sexual energy and libido
  • Improved orgasmic potential
  • Greater feelings of self love, confidence and empowerment
  • Increased arousal and lubrication of the vagina
  • Improved sensation in the nerve endings of the vagina
  • Improved tone of the pelvic floor – useful pre and post childbirth to manage and relieve continence issues
  • Improved pelvic floor strength to prevent prolapse
  • Balances hormones by increasing blood flow to the vagina
  • Improved somatic awareness within the vagina and womb
  • A greater connection to the wisdom of the womb
  • Elevated overall health, wellness, happiness and vitality
How to use your yoni egg

You can use your yoni egg in many ways- with a tantric meditation practise, activating your sexual energy and moving it through the body with kegel exercises (using pelvic floor squeezes/moolah bandha locks), with a gentle yoga practise or even overnight, for dream work (my favourite practise).

Looking after your egg

I keep my egg on my alter, along with my other sacred items.

After every use, I cleanse my egg- soaking it in salt water or gentle cleansing essential oils such as lavender, by leaving it underneath a full moon or bathing it in sound (you might have other ways that you cleanse your crystals and I suggest tuning into what feels right for you).

It is important that we cleanse them after every use as crystals absorb energies and we want to make sure that we are not inserting the crystal back into us if it is carrying what we have released the last time we used it.

How do you choose a crystal yoni egg that is right for you?

My number one suggestion would be to go with what feels right to you. Always trust the intuitive wisdom of the body as it will be drawn to the healing properties of the crystal that it needs to work with.

Every crystal has a different vibrational and healing properties, which you can find out about through a simple google search.

If you’re not sure and it’s not clear for you, I would suggest starting off with a medium sized nephrite jade egg. Nephrite jade is what has traditionally been used in ancient Chinese Tantric Taoist practises and is a really gentle and balancing healing stone. Jade was called the “Semen of the Dragon” in China because of its incredibly powerful properties.

You can purchase a drilled egg, which allows you to attach some unscented dental floss to it, so that you can remove it easily. A lot of people ask me how you get the yoni egg out. Firstly, in response to this, I want to say that it cant physically go anywhere (apart from coming out of the vagina). I personally don’t use the dental floss and remove the egg by squatting and gently breathing out (sometimes I may need to use my hand to draw the egg out).
